It's a family tradition at my house to watch scary movies on Halloween. Actually, we love watching horror films all year round. I will even watch them by myself! There's just something about the adrenaline rush that comes with watching something terrifying unfold on the screen. The heart-pounding suspense and unexpected scares provide a jolt of excitement that's hard to replicate in other genres.

Loving horror films is a unique and thrilling passion that many people around the world share. Many horror enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the Halloween season, because it's the perfect time to indulge in their favorite scary movies, attend haunted attractions, and celebrate the spooky side of life.

Now, when it comes to Halloween movies, there's a diverse lineup to pick from. Whether you're a die-hard horror fan or more into family-friendly flicks, there's a little something for everyone .

And what's also interesting is that people's choices can vary by state, giving us a unique glimpse into the nation's Halloween traditions. So, based on data that Hubscore collected from a big ol' nationwide survey, here's what they found:

In most states in America (13), the most popular horror movie this Halloween is the 10th installment of Saw. Did you even know that there were 10 Saw movies?

Then there's the classic 'The Nightmare Before Christmas.' It's a favorite for folks of all ages and it's leading the way in eight states, including our neighbors in Montana. Hocus Pocus, Scream VI, The Nun II and Halloween round out Montana's top 5 Halloween movies.

When it comes to North Dakota, we're all about the classic scares. It's the original Halloween, featuring the legendary Jamie Lee Curtis, that tops our list. This happens to be my personal top choice as well. Just listening to that iconic theme music sends shivers down my spine. Check out the rest of North Dakota's Top 5 favorites for Halloween here if you want to do a scary movie marathon.

Loving horror films is about more than just enjoying a good fright. It's a world of chills, thrills, and appreciation for the darker side of cinema that continues to captivate and unite fans worldwide-especially at Halloween. No matter where you are, get ready for a spooky movie night, my friend!
