Local Mama Cat Saves Abandoned Kittens Left At Mondak Animal Rescue in Williston, ND
We’ve got some important news from Mondak Animal Rescue (MDAR) in Williston. According to their Facebook page, on Monday, July 22, 2024, a man left a litter of newborn kittens outside the pet grooming door at MDAR. These tiny furballs are still dependent on their mom for survival. Since they were healthy, it’s clear she was doing a good job caring for them.
Unfortunately, by leaving them without letting MDAR know, they missed the chance to ask crucial questions to help reunite the kittens with their mom. Bottle feeding is tough and time-consuming, but thankfully, Sabrina, a resident mama cat who recently delivered her own kittens and has started weaning them, has stepped in to care for these little ones, giving them a much better shot at survival.
Abandoning Animals: Not the Way to Go
We all know MDAR is here to help, but dumping animals at their door without notice isn’t the right move. Plus, it’s illegal to abandon animals in North Dakota. MDAR will always do their best, but please, speak to someone first. Together, we can make sure every animal gets the care they need.
Spaying and Neutering: A Must
The sad truth is, the original mama cat will probably end up having more kittens, and the cycle continues. The real issue is pets not being spayed or neutered. Too many animals are being abandoned here in North Dakota, overwhelming our shelters and rescue groups. Spaying and neutering are key to preventing unwanted litters and reducing the number of animals left without homes.
How You Can Help
Take a look at the photo captured on video, if you recognize the individuals who left the kittens, please let MDAR know. These kittens will have a much better chance with their mom and the hope is to reunite them. Let’s spread the word and make sure every pet gets the love and care they deserve. And always spay and neuter your pets.
