North Dakota Singles Rated Among the Least Honest in Online Dating
It's the weekend, and maybe you’re cozied up with your phone, checking your favorite dating app, swiping left and right like a pro. But hold your horses! While you’re on the hunt for your next big romance, remember to keep your eyes peeled for those potential catfish lurking in the digital depths.
Double-check those profile pics and, if possible, suggest a video chat before you get too invested. After all, no one wants to be the star of their own catfish horror story.
DatingAdvice.com recently surveyed 3,000 singles, revealing the juicy details behind those glossy profiles. South Dakota scored a respectable 7.5/10 on the honesty scale, while North Dakota, bless its heart, is hanging in the middle with a ho-hum score of 4.9/10. And guess who’s wearing the dishonesty crown? That’s right—New York City, strutting around with a sad 3.4/10!
While the big cities may be infamous for their fibs, we in North Dakota aren’t exactly shining examples of truthfulness ourselves. So, where are these little white lies creeping in? Let’s break it down:
Here’s where singles are stretching the truth:
- Relationship Status: 32%—Because who doesn’t enjoy a bit of mystery?
- Age: 30%—Aging like fine wine, or just claiming to be younger?
- Real-Life Appearance: 22%—AI-enhanced looks for everyone!
- Interests/Hobbies: 6%—Because your love for underwater basket weaving is totally believable.
- Education Level: 4%—Degrees? Who needs 'em!
- Location: 4%—Somewhere vaguely close.
- Job: 2%—Brain surgeon, anyone?
AI and Dating: A Digital Deception?
Almost a third of singles think AI is used to polish up profiles, with 89% believing it makes dating more deceitful. And yes, even bios can be artificially charming.

When it comes to profile pics, 57% want images no older than a year, while 30% accept photos from the last two years. Only 2% are cool with pics from five years ago.
Big City vs. Small Town Honesty
Surprisingly, 52% of singles think big cities are the absolute worst for dating dishonesty. While North Dakota may not be winning any “Most Honest State” awards, at least we’re not swimming in a sea of deception like some of our big-city pals.
So, have fun out there, but just be careful—because in the wild world of online dating, it’s all fun and games until someone swipes right on a fishy profile! Good luck, and happy swiping.
