Montana is a state so diverse it could be divided into at least half a dozen states. From varied cultures and economies to distinct topography and rich history, where you live often shapes the kind of Montanan you are. With vast distances between population centers, important events in one region can be completely unknown in another.

Join the MonDak Heritage Center for a special Montana Conversation, “Finding Montana,” with author Ednor Therriault on June 22nd as part of the MonDak Summer Bash & Bake Off event.

Ednor Therriault shares interesting but not widely known stories from every corner of the state. Through stories, images, and even original songs, he encourages discussions about our differences and surprising similarities.

The presentation starts at 2:45 pm. Whether you come for the entire Bash & Bake Off from 1-4pm or just for this entertaining and educational talk at the end of the day, all of the events are free and open to the public.

In addition to Therriault’s presentation at 2:45 pm, the event will also host Williston artist Onesti Krieger, who will be present for an artist reception from 2-4 pm. Krieger, a visual artist with deep ties to the North Dakota arts community, will showcase her artwork and engage with attendees.

Therriault settled in MIssoula in 1993. His Montana roots run deep: his father was born in the tiny gold-mining settlement of Southern Cross, and his great-great-grandparents homesteaded along Douglas Creek in western Montana in the late 1800's.

Ednor Therriault's first book, Montana Curiosities, explored roadside attractions, unique events, and quirky people, places, and things across the state. His latest book, Seven Montanas, delves into the six regions of Montana, blending journalism, essays, and personal commentary to profile each area and its residents.
