CHI St. Alexius Health’s 2nd Annual Sugar Bust 5K was a Great Success

The second annual Sugar Bust 5k was hosted at Spring Lake Park on September 9, 2023, by CHI St. Alexius Health.

From competitive runners to those who just wanted to enjoy a stroll or jog while supporting a great cause, everyone enjoyed this event! A 5K run, a mile walk, and a mile kids fun run were all part of the day. The runners enjoyed a barbecue meal that Triangle Electric provided and prepared.

After the run, there was a community fair with a vendor village and exhibits from several neighborhood partners.

"Our diabetes team has seen an increase in patients diagnosed with diabetes in our community, said Diabetes Educator Deb Bronson, RN, BSN, CDE.” “Not all insurance plans pay for the tests needed for diabetes management. This event raises funds to help off-set the financial burden patients might be faced with when receiving a diabetes diagnosis.”
