25 Years of Creativity: Williston’s Tables of Contents Is Back With a Bang
Some fundraisers involve a dinner, a raffle, or a golf tournament. Then there is the Tables of Contents, an event that turns a trip to the library into an afternoon filled with creativity, conversation, and some seriously impressive table decorating.
The Williston Community Library Foundation will host the 25th Annual Tables of Contents on Sunday, September 13, from 1 to 3 p.m.
And this year, they're celebrating 25 years in style.
The theme for this year's event is “The Great Gatsby,” promising an afternoon of beautiful and elegant table designs throughout the library.
More Than Just a Table
The fun of Tables of Contents is seeing what local volunteers can come up with.
Attendees walk through the library, checking out tables decorated around a variety of themes while enjoying refreshments, visiting with friends and taking part in a silent auction.
Over the years, tables have featured everything from jungle adventures and children's birthday parties to weddings, antique dishes and game nights.
And every year, the volunteers seem to find another way to raise the bar.
Library Director Andrea Placher remembers attending the event for the first time about 15 years ago. She wasn't sure what to expect, but quickly became a fan.
She says that every year she thinks the event can't get any better, but it always does, thanks to the vision and artistry of the volunteers.

Helping Put More Books on the Shelves
Admission is $10, and there's a great reason to come out beyond seeing the creative displays.
All proceeds from the event will go toward purchasing new books for the library.
Previous Tables of Contents events have also helped fund important projects, including the Williams County Bookmobile and the Adrienne Stepanek Historical Archive Room of Williams County.
So, if you've never experienced tables of contents, this could be the perfect year to check it out.
Come for the Great Gatsby themed tables, stay for the refreshments and conversation, browse the silent auction and know that your $10 admission is helping keep the Williston Community Library stocked with new stories and resources.
