Behavioral health and access to local healthcare services remain major priorities in Williams County, and county commissioners are putting significant funding toward those efforts.

The Williams County Board of County Commissioners recently approved $520,000 in behavioral health grants for area providers, along with a separate $360,000 grant for Tioga Medical Center to help prepare for a future hospital renovation and expansion.

Both programs receive funding through the county’s voter-approved 1% sales tax. The Behavioral Health Grant Program also receives funding through the National Opioid Settlement.

Investing in Healthcare Closer to Home

Commissioner Steve Kemp, who served as chair of the Behavioral Health Grant Application Review Committee, said the funding is about expanding healthcare opportunities in the community.

“Investment in local healthcare is critical for bringing additional services to our area. These grants help to update facilities, expand provider capacity, and increase access to healthcare services closer to home.”

Tioga Medical Center’s $360,000 grant will fund design development services for its upcoming hospital renovation and expansion. That includes building plans, engineering systems, code review, material selections and cost review.

The Critical Access Hospital Capital Improvement Program supports capital improvements at critical access hospitals with emergency departments located in Williams County. Funding will be awarded on a rolling basis beginning in 2026 for projects and expenditures occurring in 2027 and 2028.
