Important Ice Cream Recall Affects Popular Brands In North Dakota
Heads-Up for North Dakota Food Service Businesses
It's ice cream season, and there's an important alert for restaurants, cafes, schools, and other food service businesses across North Dakota.
Ice Cream Recall
Wells Enterprises has issued a voluntary recall of nearly 18,000 containers of ice cream and frozen yogurt due to potential plastic contamination. Wells is the maker of the Blue Bunny and Halo Top brands.
What’s Included in the Recall?
The recalled products are the 3-gallon tubs of 22 different flavors, distributed to over 100 centers nationwide, including the Midwest. That means some could have ended up in North Dakota freezers.
Check the Dates
The “use by” dates range from March 2026 through October 2026, and the FDA has classified this as a Class II recall, meaning the products could cause temporary or medically reversible health issues if consumed.

Check Your Inventory
A full list of recalled products, including product codes and batch details, is available in the official FDA recall report.
Home Freezers Should Be Checked Too
If your business has stocked large tubs of Blue Bunny or Halo Top, it’s worth taking a few minutes to double-check your inventory. And even though most of these tubs went to restaurants or food service providers, it’s still smart to check those home freezers too.
Stay Safe This Ice Cream Season
Acting now will help avoid serving up a side of plastic with those summer treats.
