Hunger Relief in North Dakota: Mobile Food Pantry Brings Fresh Food to Williston and Trenton
The Great Plains Food Bank believes no one should go hungry, and access to food shouldn’t feel impossible. As North Dakota’s largest hunger-relief organization and the only food bank in the state, they provide emergency food assistance to one in six individuals each year.
The Great Plains Food Bank collaborates with a wide array of individuals and organizations daily, carefully channeling donated surplus food and grocery products to their network of food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, and other charitable feeding programs serving those who are hungry and homeless.
Food rescue bridges the gap between food waste and food insecurity by utilizing food that already exists. Diverting just a fraction of a community's food waste can significantly reduce food insecurity in the area. The Great Plains Food Bank directs 96% of all donations received toward programs and services, ensuring that every dollar donated provides food for three meals for those in need.
The Great Plains Food Bank will be distributing free food in NW North Dakota this week. With the help of staff and volunteers, items are distributed straight from the truck to clients' vehicles in a convenient drive-through setup.
