Are North Dakota and Montana Ready to Meet the Walking Dead?
Whether it’s inspired by world events, new video games, or new TV shows, over the past few years, people have been talking about the zombie apocalypse, but have they been preparing for it?
According to Google searches, between March 2019 and March 2021, there was a 2082% increase in searches for "preparing for zombie apocalypse," a 1025% increase in searches for "when will zombie apocalypse happen," and a 120% increase in searches for "apocalypse weapons."
More than 1 in 10 Americans think a zombie apocalypse is inevitable and have already started stockpiling for it.
Best States to Ride Out Zombie Apocalypse
But in terms of who's ready, we need to look to states with open space, lots of agriculture, and a lax attitude towards weapons. In the event of a zombie apocalypse, it is absolutely advantageous to not dwell in a state with a dense population.
With a stockpile of weapons and the ability to live off the land, you would
undoubtedly survive the end of the world, at least until a cure is found.
A study says that Wyoming is the best-equipped state when it comes to preparing for zombie attacks.
Alaska is right behind Wyoming. As long as bears and moose don’t turn into zombies, you’ll likely also be able to ride out an apocalypse.
Residents in Vermont, North Dakota, and South Dakota are also among the top five states most prepared for a zombie apocalypse. Just outside the top five, Montana is ranked 7th on the list.
According to the same study, you're probably out of luck if you live in the least-ready states, which are Pennsylvania, New York, Florida, Texas, and California.
