Cracking Open National Egg Day

Breakfast is one of the few meals where something as simple as an egg can reveal a lot about personal taste. With National Egg Day on June 3, a new study from Coventry Direct is cracking the code on egg preferences across state lines.

Egg Prices Across the Country

Finding affordable eggs has been challenging the past year to due a nationwide outbreak of bird flu. California is the state with the highest average price of a dozen eggs. Residents there are paying the most at $7.24, that's a whopping 50% above the national average.

North Dakota's Egg Price Snapshot

By contrast, residents of Washington state enjoy the lowest average price at $1.99 a dozen, 59% below average. Meanwhile, a dozen eggs is selling for $4.99 in North Dakota and neighboring states Montana, South Dakota and Minnesota.

What’s Not Getting Much Love

Egg Thoughts from the Studio

Just for the record, I enjoy eggs pretty much any way they’re made, but scrambled would be at the bottom of my list. Give me a quiche, fried eggs, or over easy any day. And recently, I’ve discovered a new favorite, Scotch eggs.
