The last few years have been anything but easy, and the mental health crisis we’re facing is a clear sign that awareness and action are more important than ever. We’ve lost far too many people to addiction and suicide, and the heartbreaking reality is that we often find ourselves saying, "I wish I’d seen the signs" or "I wish I’d known what to do."

It's time to make Mental Health First Aid as common as CPR. Think about it—if someone had a heart attack, most of us would know to start CPR or call 9-1-1. But what if someone was having a panic attack or showing signs of alcoholism? Would you know how to help?

The Williston Area Chamber of Commerce is bringing back Mental Health First Aid by popular demand. This essential course will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM at Train ND, 415 22nd Avenue Northeast in Williston. Lunch is on the house, and the class is $50 for Chamber members and $75 for non-members.

Mental Health First Aid is like CPR but for mental health and substance use crises. It equips you with the tools to identify, understand, and respond to those in need. By the end of the course, you’ll have the confidence and skills to offer initial support and connect them to the right help—because sometimes, knowing what to do can make all the difference.

LOOK: Do you see faces in these photos?

Pareidolia refers to the ability to see recognizable shapes, often faces, in random objects. Take a look at the photos below and see if you can identify any faces or shapes. Some are easy to spot, while others might be more challenging.
