Recognizing Compassionate Nursing Care

Nurses at CHI St. Alexius Health Williston are being honored with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses ®. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation's mission to recognize the extraordinary, compassionate nursing care they provide patients and families every day. 

Cheridynn Hoffman Named First 2025 DAISY Award Recipient

Cheridynn Hoffman was nominated twice and was recognized as the first DAISY Award recipient of 2025, with the award presentation during Nurses Week. Hoffman, an RN in Med/Surg at CHI St. Alexius Health Williston was praised in both nominations, for her knowledge, care and ability to make her patients feel comfortable. 

Patient Testimonials Highlight Exceptional Care

One of the nomination letters, written by one of Hoffman’s patients, praised her for not only educating the patient on every action taken as well as the treatment plan, but also for being a great role model for the nursing student shadowing her. The patient says “She had a great attitude and made me feel very comfortable”. 

Another patient said, “Cheridynn is the most caring and understanding nurse I have had in the last six years. She has the innate ability that just can’t be explained." 

About the DAISY Foundation

The DAISY Foundation is a not-for-profit organization, established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, by members of his family. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a difference in the lives of their patients and patient families. 

How Nurses Are Nominated

Nurses are nominated by patients, families, and colleagues.  The award recipient is chosen by a committee at CHI St. Alexius Health Williston. 

Honoring the Honoree

Each Honoree receives a certificate, a DAISY Award pin, and a hand carved sculpture called A Healer’s Touch. 

We should all feel a little better knowing we have such incredible nurses here in Williston.
