Make Way For Something New In Williston
Demolition has started in Williston on the old Safari Fuel Convenience store. The property has been blocked off for quite a while, and today the smoke finally started to take the old building down.
The store was known as Safari Fuel and the final day of business was April 1, 2021. For those not familiar with the location, this is the store just north of Walmart, and just east of Lonnie's Roadhouse Cafe. While having supper at Lonnie's a few days ago, the topic came up about how long building has been vacant, and how long the process has taken overall. The ownership group for the property has worked diligently with the State of North Dakota for a workplan to remediate the ground and prep it for a future new development. That alone is a huge undertaking. Anyone that takes over the property will not have to do that, and can hit the ground running with their new building project.
The rumor mill is running wild as to what will be built on the lot once the old building is fully removed. Will it be a new fuel store? Will it be a retail lot for a brand new business? It could be a back lot or even a parking lot for the businesses near by. Whatever the new plans hold for the lot, I am excited for another local business to put down roots in the community. The question remains for one and all reading this article...what would you like to see in this location?
