Mad Max’s Weekend in 5 (plus a few extra) Pics
I took a road trip to Grand Forks over the weekend for a much needed visit to see my brother Luke, my sis-in-law Crystal and my nephew Corban.
Saturday was Aunt's Day so it was really special to be able to spend it with my nephew.
We all had breakfast at a place called The Board Room Cafe'. A place where you can have fun playing board games while enjoying your breakfast or cup of joe. We played a card game and ordered a breakfast board that had fruits, breakfast potatoes and cute, little bite-size pancake sandwiches.
After breakfast we did a little shopping a few of my favorite spots; Dog Mahal, Picks, Grand City Games and Flippin' Happy Home Decor & More, the we attended the Grand Forks Comic Con at The Alerus Center, which was also hosting the Annual Potato Bowl football game. (We missed the parade in the morning)
A comic book convention or comic con is a fan convention with a primary focus on comic books and comic book culture. Comic book fans gather to meet creators, experts, and each other. Some fans get dressed up as their favorite character.
I got to sit in a Game of Thrones Chair. Next time, I should get dressed up. it looks fun!
The rest of the weekend was spent putting together Legos, playing board games (the family that plays together, stays together) and watching the movie Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.
Went out for dessert Saturday night at a place called Tea & Crepe Cafe', where we played a game of Sorry! and enjoyed rolled ice cream.
Rolled ice cream, also known as Stir-fried ice cream, is a sweetened frozen dessert. It is created by pouring an ice cream base on a cold plate then adding fruit, candy and other ingredients on surface. It's freshly made in front of you.
Woke up Sunday, ate breakfast, played a game of Battleship vs Corban (he won by one warship) and drove home.
Stopped in Minot at the Wendy's for some French Fries and a Frosty. I tried the new strawberry Frosty. The fries were fresh, hot and paired so well with the strawberry Frosty. Dare I say, it was better than fries with a chocolate Frosty?
It was a great weekend with family. Can't wait to go back in October. It'll be hockey season, and I'll get to watch Corban play a game or two.
