Santa Approved? North Dakota Christmas Travel Forecast Reveled
Hard to believe it but Christmas Eve is one week from tomorrow.
That should be a big wake-up call when it comes to your Christmas shopping. I know I have a lot of work to do to prepare for the holidays.
One thing that is always on people's minds this time of year in our neck of the woods, will the weather cooperate with our travel plans.
The United States continues to break records for holiday travel.
America broke a record when it came to Thanksgiving travel this year, and it looks like we will set another one this Christmas. AAA predicts that 119.3 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more for the 2024 holiday season, which runs from December 21st to January 1st.
That's a lot of people on the roads for the holidays. Hopefully, the weather won't be a grinch and prevent us from getting where we need to go from the holidays with snowstorms, icy roads, or dangerously cold temps.
My family is mostly in the Twin Cities area and that is significantly more than the 50 miles average from AAA. We have had to cancel our holiday travel plans numerous times over the years due to bad weather.
I don't want to jinx your holiday travel plans, but this year looks like smooth sailing for Santa, and all the rest of us in North Dakota.
According to the Weather Channel, it looks like snow chances will be minimal starting this coming weekend and continue that way through the end of the year.
Not only that, but temperatures are going to be significantly above normal for this time of year, and it's possible we may not even see a white Christmas here in the Capital City.
Great news for holiday travelers in North Dakota.
Not so great if you are dreaming of a white Christmas. I personally will take the good roads over that.
