The Bismarck Kmart building has been sitting empty for quite some time. It's been years now.

We've made all kinds of suggestions as to what it should be, but none of those hopes and dreams came to fruition.

Today, a post was made in Bismarck's People Reporting News by Aspen Group LLC, stating that the building will finally be home to a new store. Well, I guess technically it's not a new store, but rather a new location for an existing store.

It looks like Hobby Lobby is moving into the space. As I'm sure you probably heard several months ago, the Hobby Lobby building on State Street was sold to Sanford Health. Sanford is working to expand its footprint here in Bismarck, so it plans to turn that building into another medical clinic/facility.

When this news broke, we were concerned; we hoped this wouldn't mean that Hobby Lobby would be permanently closing its doors. Now we know, officially, that will not be the case.

As you know, the old Kmart building is huge, so I think it's safe to assume that this new Hobby Lobby location will be bigger and better than ever.

So, when will we see Hobby Lobby make this move? Well, according to the Facebook post, they will be settled into the new space in early 2026.

Look for more updates on the progress of the move and start planning out your next craft projects, you will soon have more supplies at your fingertips than you will know what to do with.
