If you thought the talk about Williston’s upcoming 100th Band Day celebration was just hype, think again. Organizers are already hard at work planning what could become one of the biggest community celebrations the city has ever seen—and now they’re asking the public to help bring the history of Band Day to life.

That’s right. In 2027, Williston will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Band Day, a tradition that has brought generations of families, students, musicians, and parade lovers together for nearly a century. The milestone celebration is scheduled for May 8, 2027, and organizers say they want this event to honor the rich history and memories that have made Band Day such a treasured part of our community.

Help Preserve The History Of Williston’s Band Day Celebration

To make that happen, they’re searching for old photos, videos, newspaper clippings, and personal stories from past Band Days through the decades. Whether you marched in the parade, played in a school band, helped build floats, volunteered behind the scenes, or simply watched from the curb every spring, your memories could become part of the historical collection being assembled for the big celebration.

Organizers are especially interested in finding older photos and vintage video footage from past Band Day events. These pieces of history could be featured in displays, promotional materials, special presentations, and other exciting projects being planned for the centennial celebration.

Organizers Want To Honor The People Who Built Band Day’s Legacy

They’re also hoping community members will help identify people who have made a major impact on Band Day over the years. If you know someone who dedicated countless hours to the event, supported local music programs, organized parades, or helped Band Day grow into what it is today, organizers would love to hear about them. Community members are encouraged to submit names along with a brief explanation of their contributions.

The goal is simple: tell the story of Band Day through the people who lived it.

If you have something to share, you can post memories and photos on the organization’s social media page or send them directly by email.

The countdown is officially on, and if organizers have their way, Williston’s 100th Band Day celebration will be one for the history books.
