Cmdr. Willis Long, hailing from Trenton, North Dakota, embodies the spirit of dedication and hard work instilled in him from his upbringing. Now serving at Assault Craft Unit One (ACU 1) in San Diego, Cmdr. Long's journey from the heartland to the high seas is a testament to the values of his hometown and the opportunities offered by the U.S. Navy.

A graduate of Trenton High School in 1998, Long reminisces on the fundamental principles he learned growing up: "Hard work, dedication, and never giving up were all things I learned growing up." These values have shaped him into an effective leader for his sailors in the Navy, where perseverance and commitment are essential.

Joining the Navy a quarter-century ago, Long was drawn to the service by the promise of boundless opportunities. His passion for travel found a perfect match in the Navy, where he could explore different towns and countries while meeting diverse people from around the globe.

Long's journey from a small town to a position of leadership exemplifies the Navy's commitment to diversity and excellence.

Reflecting on his proudest accomplishment, Long remarks, "I am most proud of being able to become the Commanding Officer of Assault Craft Unit One." His journey is a testament to the Navy's ethos of recognizing and nurturing talent, regardless of background or origin.
