The Doors Are About to Open at Sloulin Elementary, Here’s What’s Happening Wednesday

There is something special about the first day you walk into a brand-new school.

With the first day of school just around the corner on August 20, Wednesday's event will give students, parents, staff, and community members a chance to see the new school before the school year officially gets underway.

Ribbon Cutting Starts at 3:30 p.m.

The celebration begins with the official ribbon cutting at 3:30 p.m. The ceremony will take place inside the gym, and guests attending the ribbon cutting should enter through the west-side gym doors.

Following the ribbon cutting, the school will open its doors for the community to explore from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m.

There will also be a special guest joining the celebration. North Dakota State Superintendent Levi Bachmeier is expected to arrive at approximately 4:30 p.m. to help celebrate the milestone with students, staff, families, and the community.

A Few Things to Know Before You Go

With plenty of people expected to check out the new school, parking and traffic flow will be important.

General parking will be available in the designated lots, with overflow parking available on the south side of 33rd Street. Parking attendants will be on-site to help direct traffic and guide visitors toward available parking.

Additional designated parking will be available near the building for guests who are elderly or need easier access.

If you're planning to attend only the open house, organizers recommend arriving after 4:30 p.m. Parking is expected to become more available once the ribbon cutting crowd begins to leave.
