WSC Receives $125K Grant for Healthcare Training Facility
Williston State College (WSC) has been awarded a significant $125,000 grant from the Otto Bremer Trust, aimed at bolstering the construction of its new Healthcare Training Facility. This state-of-the-art center is set to transform healthcare education in the region, addressing the growing demand for healthcare professionals in North Dakota.
The new facility is a key component of WSC’s mission to expand its healthcare programs, which currently include nursing, radiologic technology, and surgical technology. Additionally, the college plans to introduce new programs in behavioral health and addiction studies, collaborating with the University of North Dakota and Minot State University to provide comprehensive training.
Dr. Bernell Hirning, President of Williston State College, expressed his appreciation for the grant, stating, “This investment from the Otto Bremer Trust is a significant step forward for healthcare education in our region. The facility will not only help us train the next generation of healthcare professionals but also address the critical need for skilled workers in North Dakota. We are grateful for the trust’s commitment to improving lives and strengthening communities.”
Cade Coles, Grant Writer and Administrator for WSC, emphasized the importance of the funding, remarking, “The Otto Bremer Trust’s support helps us move closer to realizing our vision for a world-class healthcare training facility. Their investment shows a dedication to projects that have a lasting impact on communities, and we are honored to be among the recipients.”
The Otto Bremer Trust, based in St. Paul, Minnesota, has a long-standing commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents across Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, and Wisconsin. Since its founding in 1944 by Otto Bremer, the trust has invested over $1 billion in initiatives that benefit the region’s residents.
Hunter Berg, Executive Director of the Williston State College Foundation, echoed Dr. Hirning’s sentiments, adding, “Support from organizations like the Otto Bremer Trust is instrumental in ensuring we provide the best possible education and resources to our students. This facility will be a game-changer for healthcare education in our region, and we are deeply appreciative of their partnership.”
With this grant, WSC is one step closer to launching a facility that promises to enhance healthcare training and better serve the community's needs.
