North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong has directed all state agencies to fly the United States and North Dakota flags at half-staff today, Thursday, May 14, in observance of Peace Officers Memorial Day, and encouraged residents and businesses to do the same.

The order follows a proclamation from Donald Trump recognizing May 10 through 16 as National Police Week.

Governor Armstrong will join Drew Wrigley and Lisa Fair McEvers at a Peace Officers Memorial Service at 7 p.m. in Memorial Hall at the State Capitol.

The service will honor 69 fallen North Dakota officers. Scott Winkelman will serve as master of ceremonies.

Chaplains will deliver the invocation and read the Roll Call of the fallen, with honor guards assisting. Musical tributes will include taps by Duane Stanley and Jerry Seeklander, and bagpipes by Mickey Harmon.
