With the recent passing into law of House Bill 98, Montana hunters will now be able to carry E-Tags for their spouses and children under the age of 18.

Before the passage of HB98, state law only allowed the carrying of paper tags for their spouse and children, but not E-Tags. The new law changes that for families, as well as adding the ability for Montanans to have additional licensing accounts for spouses and minor children that can be linked through the MyFWP web portal.

These linked accounts can be displayed in the mobile app, and E-Tags can now be downloaded onto your device.

If you are carrying an E-Tag for a spouse or child, it must be validated by the person who harvests the animal.

The new law does not apply to any other family members.

The Android version of the MyFWP app is available once again through the Google Play Store after security upgrades were made to the app.

According to Montana FWP: -The MyFWP mobile app is a digital wallet that allows people to store their licenses electronically on their mobile device. It also allows users to access E-Tags for carcass tags they’ve purchased. E-Tags must be downloaded while the phone has internet or cell service but can be validated while in the field and out of cell coverage.
