In the early morning of Thursday, August 29th, Williston police responded to a call about an intoxicated driver near 10th Avenue West and 11th Street West.

The driver, 19-year-old Tobias Long of Williston, collided with a parked vehicle before fleeing the scene.

A brief police chase ensued, during which Long drove into Riverview Cemetery on the 800 Block of 9th Avenue West, causing damage to several headstones.

He was quickly apprehended and taken to a local hospital for injuries sustained in the crash, later being transferred for advanced treatment.

The Williston Police Department is investigating the incident and expects to file multiple charges against Long. They are also working to identify the families affected by the damage to the gravesites and encourage anyone concerned to contact the department.

The police expressed their sympathies to those impacted and are committed to ensuring justice is served.
