February Fur Facts: Williston, ND’s Animal Control Numbers
This is a reminder for pet owners in Williston. If you have a cat or dog in the city limits, ensure your pet is protected with a City Pet License. Did you know it's a city ordinance?
To get your cat or dog licensed in Williston, just go to the Williston Police Department. Bring documentation of current rabies vaccination. Costs will vary depending if your pet is spayed/neutered.
Licenses help the Williston PD Animal Control officers reunite lost pets with their families faster. Last month, three cats and 11 dogs were reunited with their owners. Many, thanks to a pet license.
February by the Numbers:
Williston's Animal Control Department had a busy February. They just released their February Fur Facts Report, and the numbers indicate a steady demand for assistance.

Last month, WPD Animal Control responded to 111 service calls, compared to 125 in January. Citations dropped from 8 to 4.
The animal control facility took in 17 cats and 14 dogs, an increase from January's 11 cats and 11 dogs. In addition to the animals reunited with their owners, 8 animals were rescued.
According to the report, adoption numbers remain low, with only one animal finding a new home. The department is focused on finding the best outcomes for all the animals in their care.
How You Can Help:
Spay and Neuter:
Reducing unplanned litters is the best way to prevent stray animals from overwhelming shelters.
Microchip and ID Tags:
Microchips are great, but an ID tag including updated contact information can make reuniting with your pet even faster.
Don’t Let Pets Roam:
Keep pets on a leash or within a secure yard. Leashes- another Williston City ordinance you may not be aware of.
