Breaking Up in North Dakota: Who Moves On Faster—Men or Women?
DatingNews.com surveyed 3,000 people to find out how long it actually takes folks to get over a breakup—and whether that process differs by gender. So, how does North Dakota stack up?
Breaking Up in North Dakota: How Long Does It Really Take to Move On?
North Dakota women, on average, take about 9 weeks to get over a breakup. Not bad, right? They tend to lean on their social circles, staying busy with friends and family, which helps keep their spirits up. North Dakota men, though, take a bit longer to recover—about 14 weeks, or just over three months.
The Secret to Moving On
So, how do people actually cope after a breakup? According to the survey, 49% of people say spending time with friends and family is the key. Whether it’s a night out or just having someone to talk to, it’s the top way to heal.
Other popular ways to move on include diving into work or hobbies (26%), hitting the gym to boost those endorphins (12%), or even seeking therapy (4%). For the adventurous types, a small 2% took the opportunity to travel or take a break.
Going to Extremes
Of course, some take more drastic measures. About 8% of respondents admitted to jumping into a rebound relationship, while nearly a quarter went for an image overhaul—new haircut or tattoo, anyone?
Half of the people said deleting all traces of their ex—photos, social media, or even furniture—sped up the healing process. And for the bold, 32% hooked up with someone new right away, and 8% even signed up for dating apps on the day of the breakup!
Too Fast, Too Soon?
Interestingly, nearly one-third of people admitted they regretted moving on too quickly. Sometimes, it turns out, a little extra time to heal might be what you need.
So, North Dakotans, next time you're going through a breakup, know that it's okay to take your time—or not.
