Blood Donation Tips
Drink plenty of water. Staying hydrated makes it easier to find your veins and prevents you from becoming light-headed after donating,
Eat well beforehand. Don’t skip breakfast, and be sure to eat snacks offered to you.
Exercise before donating blood, not afterward. It’s OK to go to the gym before you donate blood but not so wise afterward.
Take iron tablets. The American Red Cross recommends that individuals, especially teens, or those who donate blood frequently take an iron supplement or a multivitamin with iron.
The entire procedure is quite quick and safe, and you'll feel fantastic knowing that you may have helped save up to three lives. The gift of life—blood—is the most priceless gift someone can give to another. Donating blood can save a life, or perhaps multiple lives if the blood's components, red blood cells, platelets, and plasma, can be used separately to treat patients with different illnesses.
